Take your feet and tastebuds on a delicious journey around our pristine mountains, charming lakes and magnificent river valleys. Enjoy the world-famous picturesque lake Bled and amazing glacial lake Bohinj. Take in the breathtaking scenery of high mountain lakes and rugged limestone peaks on a 3-day hut-to-hut hike and discover the traditional ways of the shepherds. Be amazed by the stunning So?a river valley, one of the most beautiful river valleys in the world, and visit the historic town of Kobarid – a blend of nature, history and delicious food. Leave the mountain trails of Triglav National Park and stroll around the vineyards of Goriška Brda wine region, taste traditional local food and world class wine. After delicious culinary delights in the countryside, end the trip in the vibrant capital city of Ljubljana.

ITINERARY

DAY 1 – Arrival in Ljubljana

Arrive to Ljubljana, check into your room, walk along the river banks and admire bridges, explore the historical city centre and medieval old town, stunning architecture, the colorful marketplace. It’s best you do that with our mid-morning food tour! Later, visit Ljubljana Castle and treat yourself to beautiful views of the city from the castle’s ramparts or outlook tower. Afterwards join our welcome dinner with traditional Slovenian food.

DAY 2 – Lake Bled, Vintgar gorge, Bohinj lake

After breakfast a short transfer will take us to the world-famous lake Bled; a picture-perfect lake with island church and a fairytale medieval castle built on a precipice overlooking the lake. A good start will be a hike through the spectacular Bled Vintgar Gorge – a narrow canyon. After lunch, we will take a short walk on a hill that has the most beautiful view in the world. Be sure to try the local specialty, Bled custard-cream cake. Next, we continue to glacial Lake Bohinj, peaceful alpine valley, located in the heart of the Triglav National Park.

DAY 3 – Hiking in the Julian Alps

After breakfast, we will start our 3-day HUT to HUT hiking adventure in the heart of Triglav National Park. We will pass shepherds’ cottages and walk through the green meadows of the charming Alpine pastures. We will continue walking on mountain ridges that offer one of the most spectacular and breathtaking views in Slovenian Alps. We will spend the night in a picturesque mountain hut with a view on the surrounding peaks and watch the sunset!

DAY 4 – Hiking in the valley of the 7 Triglav lakes

We will begin a truly unique day by descending into the Valley of the Seven Triglav Lakes and enjoying a rising and falling traverse through rocky terrain. The majestic mountain trail will take us through stunning scenery of mountain lakes and other spectacular views. We will follow the scenic trail towards the valley and enter into mountain lovers’ paradise – one of the most beautiful high-altitude alpine valleys in Europe. The magnificent vistas and awe-inspiring mountains will make you see why Triglav National Park is also called the Kingdom of the Golden horn and is a source of pride to all Slovenians. You will spend the night in a comfortable mountain hut, just next to one of the beautiful lakes.

DAY 5 Hiking in the Julian Alps, swimming in lake Bohinj

We will slowly leave the highest peaks behind and enter the land of the Alpine pastures. On the walk back, you will enjoy magnificent views over the Bohinj area. We will pass by some typical shepherd huts where they carry on a traditional way of life, and taste traditional Slovenian delights in one of the huts. We will continue walking to the incredible Lake Bohinj where we will take time for a swim in the crystal-clear lake. This spectacular hiking adventure will end with a tasty Slovenian dinner.

DAY 6 –Hiking Vrši? pass & exploring So?a river valley

After an early breakfast we will continue our journey on scenic mountain road to historical Vrši? pass (1625m). From the plateau we will hike to Sleme where you will feel all the beauty and astonishing views of our beloved mountains. After lunch in one of the mountain huts we will continue our drive down into one of the most beautiful and one of the few unspoilt river valleys in the world So?a River Valley where you will explore the historic town of Kobarid – a blend of history, nature and delicious food.

In the evening it will be time for a gastronomic experience: dinner prepared by one of the most innovative world chefs Ana Roš, Star of Netflix’s Chef’s Table– Season 2 and World’s Best Female Chef 2017 by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants organisation, in her family run restaurant Hiša Franko which is among 50 World’s Best Restaurants for 2017.

DAY 7 – Kozjak waterfalls & vineyards of Goriška Brda

We will start the day with a pleasant stroll near the So?a river; the path will take us to the lovely hidden Kozjak waterfalls with their beautiful pool. Before lunch you will also have time to visit the World War 1 Museum.

After lunch we will continue along a picturesque route to the Slovenia’s wine growing region of Goriška Brda to enjoy our Mediterranean landscape and magnificent views. It is a land of gently rolling hills, covered with orchards and vineyards and dotted with small villages.

Farewell dinner will be served in the family run tourist farm with amazing views of the region. Each dish will be enhanced by a selection of our host’s wine. Together we will raise a toast to a great adventure in Slovenia.

DAY 8 Goodbye Slovenia

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Ljubljana for your next adventure. If you haven’t already done so at the beginning, come join our food tours and make your gastronomic holiday even tastier.

Guided Group: This is a small-group guided holiday. The group is usually 4 to 16 people big, with an average of 12 like-minded clients booking individually, as a couple or as friends together.

  • An English speaking, professional local mountain guide throughout the trip
  • Ground transportation throughout Slovenia as per the itinerary
  • All accommodations in 3 -, 4-star hotels/tourist farm (two people sharing a twin/double room), with private facilities (except the mountain huts – rooms for 4, 6 or 10 people which is dormitory style with shared facilities)
  • Meals as noted in the daily itinerary

  • Day 8 transfer to Ljubljana train station or a downtown hotel

If you request single accommodations, you will be asked to pay the full single supplement fee. There are a limited number of single rooms available to request. If you wish to share accommodations, we will assign you a roommate if one is available. Please be advised that there are a limited number of single rooms available, and single rooms are not available at the mountain hut.
